Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (SUBTEL) in Chile announced on May 16, 2023, that the FM band in Chile will be expanded from 76 MHz to 108 MHz to allow for more radios to operate in the frequency band as a part of the Media Strengthening Agenda. Presently, 2500 commercial and community radio stations operate throughout Chile. The expansion of the FM band will allow for at least 1000 more new radio stations to come into operation across Chile.
