PTCRB Certification
PTCRB (PCS Type Certification Review Board) is a personal communication Service Type Certification evaluation Committee established by North American mobile operators in 1997. Operators are no longer limited to North America, but include members of mobile operators worldwide. Its purpose is to provide type certification for Cellular GERAN (GSM), UTRAN (UMTS), and E-UTRAN (LTE) end products and templates.
To ensure that your mobile phone or communication device can work on PTCRB carrier's mobile network, the device must be PTCRB certified. This is also to ensure that your product matches the mobile standards of your carrier's network. Therefore, PTCRB operators will prevent PTCRB equipment products that are not PTCRB certified from running and working on their networks.
North American Demand
Operator Access Authentication
In the United States, operator access certification is also known as PTCRB certification test. PTCRB was established in North America in 1997 as an audit committee responsible for PCS model certification, along with a verification group, which was mainly responsible for PCR mobile terminal model certification and IMEI allocation.
PTCRB certification is a quasi-mandatory model certification implemented by a third-party certification body. All PCS terminal devices put into the North American market must pass PTCRB certification and apply for IMEI according to the report. The term "quasi-mandatory" is used here. Mandatory is the requirement issued by the government supervision department. However, PTCRB is not governmental, but in the form of forum, but very authoritative.
Constitute
Similar to GCF, PTCRB is also composed of operators and some large mobile phone manufacturers, as well as some accredited laboratories.
Test Classification
1. Test of RF part 2. Test of Protocol part
3. Test of SIM part 4. Audio part of the test
Requirements for Certification
GSM 850, GSM 1900, FDD BAND II, FDD BAND IV and FDD BAND V are tested according to the OTA test standard issued by CTIA.
Test Standard Number
Conformance to 3GPP TS 51.010-1 (generally updated every 3 months)
Produce
According to the PICS (Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement) filled in by the customer, the corresponding Test Case is generated corresponding to 3GPP TS 51.010-2
Test Case Classification
• Chapters corresponding to RF - 12, 13, 14, 16, 18, 21, 22; • Chapter-27 corresponding to SIM;
• Chapter-30 corresponding to Audio; • Sections of the Protocol - all but the above.
Field test
Field test is an indispensable part of PTCRB certification. For each working frequency band, the real network interaction of 5 operators can be carried out simultaneously with RF, Protocol, SIM and other tests.
Hanging Net
To apply for membership/membership of the PTCRB:
Member type:
• Operator operator; • Manufacturer;
• Laboratories laboratories; • Observer observer;
Fill in the relevant information on the PTCRB website and submit the membership application.
Review
• After passing the review, you can become a PTCRB member without paying annual membership fee;
• Members find laboratories for product testing;
• Members submit relevant materials and test reports on the PTCRB website, see the PTCRB certification online operation process for details;
• PTCRB audits data and test reports, and issues payment notices, and the product is in a state of pending certification;
• Test cycle editing and broadcasting;
• The test period mainly depends on the functions supported by the mobile phone. For example, the frequency band supported by the mobile phone, whether the mobile phone supports GPRS Class10, whether it supports EDGE, whether it supports half-rate, etc. According to different situations, the length of the test varies greatly, and the test cycle is also affected by the rectification and debugging of the mobile phone during the test process.
