Australian Energy Efficiency GEMS Certification
Certification Introduction
GEMS stands for Australia's specific minimum energy efficiency standards to reduce greenhouse effects. GEMS is managed by the Australian Department of Industry and Scientific Development, which is responsible for the implementation, supervision and inspection of GEMS products.
The main products to be applied include:
Incandescent lamp, double end fluorescent lamp, self-ballast, CFL, power adapter, refrigerator, air conditioner, washer, dryer, etc.
Some of the applicable criteria are as follows:
• AS/NZS 4934.1 Incandescent lamps for general lighting service- Part 1: Test methods Energy performance.
• AS/NZS 4934.2 Incandescent lamps for general lighting services- Part 2: Minimum Energy Performance Standards(MEPS) requirement.
• AS/NZS 4782.3 Double-capped fluorescent lamps - Performance specifications-Part 3 : Procedure for quantitative analysis of mercury present in fluorescent lamps.
• AS/NZS 4847.1 Self ballasted lamps for general lighting services-part 1: Test methods-Energy performance.
• AS/NZS 4847.2 Self ballasted lamps for general lighting services-part 2: Minimum Energy Performance Standards( MEPS ) requirements.
