Hong Kong Energy Efficiency Label
On August 4, 2006, Hong Kong formulated a mandatory energy efficiency labeling scheme. Since 1995, Hong Kong has implemented a voluntary energy efficiency labeling scheme for household appliances and office equipment and motor vehicles. Hong Kong will introduce a mandatory energy efficiency labelling scheme for sub-room air conditioners, refrigeration appliances and compact fluorescent lamps. Local manufacturers or importers must register the model of their products with the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, and affix energy efficiency labels to the registered products in the prescribed form before placing them on the Hong Kong market. In 2011, Hong Kong Energy Efficiency Label launched the "Energy Efficiency Labeling Scheme" for LED lighting products: refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, energy-saving lamps, LED lamps, electric clothes dryers, water storage type electric water heaters and electric rice cookers.
